Cairns Northern Beaches

The Northern Beaches of Cairns stretch for 26 kilometers, 16.2 miles along a beautiful coastline, which begins just north of the city beyond the Barron River Bridge and the sugar-cane fields.

The Northern Beaches are made up of Machans, Holloways, Yorkeys Knob, Trinity, Kewarra, Clifton, Palm Cove and Ellis Beaches. Each is a small, separate township with its own distinctive character. Private yachts and motor launches from around the world moor at the new Yorkeys Knob Marina.

But each settlement has the same idyllic key elements warm seas, water sports and miles of uncrowded sand kept in perspective by a sweeping backdrop of rainforest mountains.

While staying at one of the northern beaches there is no need to disrupt the tranquillity to enter the city - shopping facilities are nearby as is the rainforest cableway.

There are three golf courses including world famous Paradise Palms, at Clifton Beach.

Dotted along the coast are galleries, fashion and craft boutiques, and a simulated opal mine, which shows how Australias most colourful precious stones are formed and mined.

Palm Cove
Palm Cove has developed into a satellite tourism destination in its own right. With countless luxurious beachfront resorts that adorn the paved esplanade to the many boutique tropical shops and fine restaurants, Palm Cove is a destination not to be missed if venturing into North Queensland and Mission Beach Dunk Island Connections can take you there.

Mission Beach Dunk Island Connections run multiple daily services through Palm Cove whilst going north to Silky Oaks/Port Douglas or south to Mission Beach or Dunk or Bedarra Islands.
